Identity politics is a word that has been weaponized against movement spaces lately as a means of discouraging important conversations surrounding the intersections of politics and identity. It is such a shame because these descriptors provide us with the vocabulary to encourage deeper self-exploration and gives people belonging in marginalized spaces. I am a Black Woman, a Queer person, and non-binary all at once! How liberating is that!
